The Melbourne Clinic and The Geelong Clinic invites General Practitioners to attend this live, online and interactive meeting presented by Dr Russell Golden and Ms Lisa Stokes, and chaired by Dr Joel King.
This update has been developed with a GP focus in order to expand the understanding of early diagnostic and management strategies for patients presenting with signs and symptoms of eating disorders. A psychiatrist with extensive experience in this subspecialty will review and examine evidence, patient case studies and the available diagnostic and treatment options available to General Practitioners. This activity will also assist GPs in formulating referral strategies with patients and their families, whilst establishing their role within a broader multidisciplinary team.
1. Describe the symptoms of disturbances in eating behaviour as they present in the various eating disorders;
2. Discuss the socio-cultural, psychological and biological risk factors that may contribute to the development of disordered eating;
3. Explain the screening tools that can be used to conduct an initial evaluation and identify warning signs;
