Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Day Program
Who is this program for?
If you answer ‘YES' to most of the questions below, you may benefit from this program:
- Are you a Veteran, Peacekeeper, Serving Member or working in Emergency Services?
- Do you experience anger or flashbacks?
- Do you ever feel on guard, watchful or easily startled?
- Do you ever have nightmares or trouble sleeping?
- Do you have increased alcohol use or relationship difficulties?
How will it help me?
The PTSD Day Program involves individual and group therapy exploring PTSD education, anxiety and anger management, along with drug and alcohol education. Partners and families are also invited to attend partner support groups and relationship sessions.
The program covers traumas related to service and employment experience and involves a combination of education and therapy including both group and individual sessions.
This program is accredited by the Australian Centre for Post Traumatic Mental Health, and includes modules on trauma, healthy living (including mindfulness), anger management, pain management, and assertive communication strategies.
Participants will also be offered a range of support services to link with at the conclusion of the program.

The program runs for 12 weeks and attendance is required on Wednesdays and Thursdays 8:30am to 3:00pm.
How do I access the program?
To be admitted to our programs, you will need to ask your General Practitioner for a referral to a Geelong Clinic accredited Psychiatrist. The Psychiatrist will then refer you to the Day Program.
Your GP can address your referral to: ‘Dear Doctor…’ or a Psychiatrist of your choice.
The referral should be faxed by your GP to 03 5248 4852.
Once cover or funding is checked and confirmed, the program coordinator will coordinate next steps with you.

How much does it cost?
We have agreements with DVA and Workcover.
All referrals are subject to a health fund check prior to admission to a program.
